BN Group was engaged by Redlands school Cremorne NSW to undertake a masterplan for their senior campus. Working with Redlands Aspirational brief, BN assisted with the development of the physical brief and then considered the complexity of delivering a staged masterplan within both the financial and sensitive ongoing operational constraints of the school.

Stage One of the masterplan being the New Learning Hub, basement parking and Music faculty are currently in delivery phase.

Requires an understanding of the strict guidelines in the design and planning of childcare facilities from control points, percentage of internal and external spaces, amenities, varying age group needs and access by parents to drop off and pick up their most precious possession. Creative planning enables efficient oversight of children by teachers. Material selection is also important particularly texture and colour along with flexible spaces that enable children to explore learning at their own pace with assistance and guidance from specialist teachers.

Ranging from general teaching spaces that can be flexibly configured with associated break out areas and fitted with the latest technology through to specialist spaces such as science rooms, visual arts, innovative design and technology, pottery, computer and presentation spaces. Good circulation, able to use all spaces, appropriate positioning of support facilities such as teachers studios and heads of faculty spaces through to locker and amenity locations. High attention to safety by design and appropriate use of materials along with lighting and achieving a balance comfort zone with both passive and active means to reduce energy consumption.

The school library has morphed into the social hub and key place for exchange of ideas, research, contemplation, group talks and meetings along with focused study environments. It is the pulse of an educational institution and should reflect the culture and character of the institution. It should build pride with users and reflect the ideals that we all aspire to. It should be easy to navigate, provide a variety of spaces and environments and have close attention to acoustics and natural lighting. Ideally it would also include external break out areas. These are exciting environments which require great creativity.

Joint venture with Blacktown City Council.

The creation of a much needed community resource which looked to provide a variety of rich educational and support programs for its local population

The brief calling for a faciality which enhanced both the built form and the public domain and satisfying the exacting requirements of Councils brief.

The model was developed for the ponds through community consultation and council workshops.

Sports facilities require specific requirements for the various sports to be held and the objective is to maximise the use of any facility and adaption for a range of sports usages. This requires consideration of mustering and lobby spaces, reception and control points, change facilities particularly for co-ed and visiting teams, spectator access and control, security and ample storage for sporting equipment. The relationship of any facility to its surrounds must also be taken into consideration in regards to acoustic consideration, movement and circulation of users and external access by general public should this be required. The nature of sporting uses require large spans and substantial head heights requiring close attention to structural engineering and both mechanical and natural ventilation of the spaces to minimise running costs.
