The project transforms an under-utilised industrial pocket into a vibrant local shopping destination, anchored by a full-line Woolworths supermarket, supporting specialty retail, and a multi-level carpark that maximises efficiency on a tight urban site.
Architecturally, the centre prioritises natural light, legibility, and an intuitive customer journey. The building form is arranged to draw daylight deep into the supermarket and public areas, creating a bright, open retail environment. Sustainability is embedded through extensive rooftop solar infrastructure, future-focused services planning, and materials chosen for durability and performance.
The design integrates the centre seamlessly into its surrounding context, with improvements to local road networks, pedestrian connections, and active-transport links. These sitewide upgrades ensure the centre operates as a true community hub, supporting convenience, accessibility, and long-term neighbourhood growth.
Recognised by Urban Taskforce Australia as a Retail Development Winner, the Chatswood East Neighbourhood Shopping Centre showcases how thoughtful, design-led architecture can elevate everyday retail experiences while delivering strong commercial and community outcomes.
